On any given game night, it’s estimated that over 100 baseballs are used during a 9-inning celebration of America’s favorite pastime. For fans, every wall-clearing home run and errant foul ball represents an opportunity to take home a one-of-a-kind keepsake. If you’re looking to catch your next prized possession, consider starting your search well before the ump yells “Play ball!â€
- Decide if you want a home run ball (harder), or if a foul ball will do (easier). Then choose the right seat.
- Bring your glove to the game.
- Get the game early for batting practice. Smaller crowds and more accessible players increase your chance of getting a ball.
- Pay closer attention to batters favoring your side of the field.
- Avoid interfering with the play. Make sure the ball passes over the wall before trying to catch it.
- Be a gentleman. There’s no need for shoving or other shenanigans just to get a ball.
